Your Child’s Emotional Health is Just as Important as Their Physical Health
As primary care pediatricians in Portland, we know that for your child to truly thrive, their mental health needs the same level of attention and care as their body.
During each wellness visit, we address your child’s emotional needs at each developmental stage as well as encourage ways for your family to foster resilience. We discuss friendship, bullying, family relationships, peer pressure and school stress. In our adolescent patients, we also screen for drug and alcohol use and depression.
If you need more time to talk about your concerns, we also offer discussion appointments. Here we can discuss any sleep issues, learning and school challenges, behavior problems, family dynamics or developmental worries your child may have. These appointments are flexible and potentially can be done with or without your child present, either in-office or using telehealth.
We can diagnose and treat depression, anxiety and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. For more complex issues, we refer to trusted psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health therapists capable of providing your child with the help and support they need.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s behavior or mental health, please don’t hesitate to give your Portland pediatric clinic a call. For links to more information on mental health and help lines, check out our resources page.
