Sharlene Matthieu, M.D. FAAP

Sharlene Matthieu, MD FAAP, has been around the office in one capacity or another for more than thirty years. She first joined East Portland Pediatric Clinic as a patient, and later as an employee. Her first job in the office was receptionist, and she went on to become a medical assistant before completing her schooling. She attended medical school at Oregon Health & Science University, graduating in 2002. She then moved to Ohio to complete her pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. In 2005 she returned to her Northwest roots and, not surprisingly, to East Portland Pediatrics.

Dr. Matthieu's husband, Eric, is a stay-at-home dad who helps keep her sane, takes care of their three children, including one with multiple disabilities and curates some amazing live-planted aquariums. Together, they like to spend their free time playing with their kids, volunteering at school and church, reading, hiking, cooking and exploring new foods. While Dr. Matthieu enjoys her busy schedule and even busier kids, she does long for the days when she could actually finish a knitting project.

Rita Vileisis, M.D.

Dr. Vileisis is joining East Portland Pediatric Clinic in July 2024! She brings with her an impressive wealth of knowledge and experience in pediatrics with over forty years spent in the pediatric field. She began her educational journey at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, where she earned both her undergraduate and medical degrees. Originally intending to become a surgeon, a rotation in the neonatal intensive care unit sparked a deep passion for pediatrics. This led to a fulfilling career primarily in neonatology.

Over the last decade, however, Dr. Vileisis discovered a new love – general pediatrics. The opportunity to witness the growth and development of children and their families has brought her immense joy and fulfillment. She is deeply committed to her work and is eager to continue serving children and adolescents in need at our clinic.

When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Vileisis dedicates her time to volunteering at Physicians for Human Rights. Her creative side shines through in her love for quilting, a hobby she enjoys in her downtime. She also loves spending quality time with her rescue terrier and her two beautiful grandchildren.

Dr. Vileisis will see patients on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. She is currently accepting new patients.
