Inclement Weather Announcement – Keeping You Safe & Updated

The safety of our patients and staff is always our top priority at our East Portland pediatric clinic. With the winter season upon us, we want to ensure you know our policies and procedures when inclement weather hits. Here’s everything you need to know.
How We Make Weather-Related Decisions
We follow Portland Public Schools (PPS) to determine delays and closures during the week. PPS works closely with local meteorologists, city transportation teams, and their own field staff to decide if schools will: delay openings by two hours (late start) or close schools entirely for the day.
PPS notifies families, students, and staff via phone and text. You can also find updates on the PPS homepage. To learn more about their inclement weather policies, go here.
Our Clinic Policies on Inclement Weather
Whether it’s snow, ice or other hazardous conditions, here’s how we handle these situations:
On Weekdays:
• If PPS opens late or closes for the day, we will open late at 9:30 AM.
• Any appointments scheduled before 9:30 AM will be canceled.
• We’ll prioritize rescheduling canceled appointments, with a focus on sick patients.
On Weekends:
• We’ll make decisions the day before or early in the morning about whether to open late or entirely close the clinic.
• Updates will be shared on our website, Facebook page and Instagram feed as soon as possible.
• Regardless of the day, if weather conditions are severe, you’ll always have access to one of our physicians by phone for assistance.
Prioritizing Safety
Weather conditions can vary widely across the metro area, which can affect both accessibility and transportation. Please use your best judgment when deciding whether to venture out—your safety matters to us. If you don’t feel it’s safe to travel, we encourage you to stay warm and at home.
We’ll be making every effort to accommodate the appointments that we cancel once conditions improve. For urgent matters, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 503-255-3544. A physician will always be available to assist you by phone.
We are here to serve our community with care, even when the weather is challenging. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates. Together, we can ensure everyone stays safe and healthy this winter.
