Circumcision Billing Policy

Circumcision Billing Policy

Circumcisions are considered elective surgical procedures and are typically not medically necessary. For those families that make the decision to have their child circumcised, we are providing the following information regarding our financial policies associated with this procedure. Please speak with the billing department if you have additional questions not covered here.

Payment will be collected before the service is rendered when:
*Insurance eligibility/benefits cannot be confirmed with the plan.
*Surgery deductible cannot be confirmed as met.
*Procedure is deemed a non-covered service (aka patient responsibility).

After EPPC receives insurance explanation of benefits, it will be determined if the patient is due a refund in the case of insurance payment or contractual write off

Because the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) can retroactivate/terminate coverage at any time, EPPC requires that ALL patients regardless of current insurance coverage, sign an Oregon Health Authority waiver. In the event a newborn becomes eligible with OHP for the date of the procedure, EPPC is under contract to bill the plan. If the procedure is deemed a non-covered service, charges may be considered patient responsibility
