Come See Dr. Skau’s Whimsical Animals

Recently retired pediatrician Dr. David Skau remains a much-loved figure at our clinic as well as with our EPPC families. This is not only because of his kind spirit and compassionate nature – he’s also remembered for the cute animals he would hand-draw on popsicle sticks (aka tongue compressors) for his young patients.

Before his retirement Michelle, one of our awesome medical assistants, was on a secret mission to gather the best of his animal stick art. She had it framed and presented it to the office as a way to celebrate and remember Dr. Skau’s fun way of entertaining and connecting with his patients.

Dr. Skau’s whimsical animals (including snakes, elephants and mice) brought years of joy and comfort to kids and their caregivers. Over the years, our families have shared many wonderful stories about Dr. Skau. His patience, how he put parents and their kids at ease, and how he made sure their concerns were heard. And how many children still have their popsicle stick animals to this day!

So next time you’re in the office, be sure to stop by this framed photo that displays a handful of Dr. Skau’s animals. If you have a story to share about Dr. Skau, we’d love to hear it.
